Waveney Partnership TV was launched to provide a community television network to Waveney, broadcasting useful local information. It also ensures that all partners, both statutory and voluntary, have an opportunity to showcase their key initiatives and provide information relevant to local people. The scheme is supported by The Waveney Strategic Partnership.
Waveney organisations are invited to send in their future events and filming ideas to place in the WPTV schedule for 2010. Posters must contain no more than a maximum of 35 characters.
The ten plasma screens venues include Asda, Morrison’s and Tesco supermarkets, Lowestoft College, Waveney Sports & Leisure, Oulton Village Medical Centre, Adventure Island Play Park, Palmers Department Store, the Andaman Surgery and in the new year The Kirkley Centre, the new premises for Waveney Community Forum.
Make WPTV local to you and have a “Moment of Fame” transmitted across Waveney.

with Waveney Community Forum Annual General Meeting at 12.45pm
Waveney Charity Roadshow Proves Popular Once Again!
An information packed day with speakers, various funders, networking and lots of useful workshops, the eleventh Charity Roadshow for Waveney held on Tuesday 23rd June proved as popular as ever.
Organised by Suffolk Association of Voluntary Organisations (SAVO), Waveney Community Forum and Fairshare Trust, the Roadshow was held at the London Road Baptist Church in South Lowestoft, an ideal venue for all the activities.
People attending said the wide range of workshops and displays by local organisations meant they could access a great deal of helpful and practical information. The day was jam-packed with seminars, workshops, stalls and advice surgeries.
The very successful day was enjoyed by 55 delegates, 15 Waveney Community Forum and SAVO staff and 20 stall holders and workshop leaders. The Journal’s Editor, Russell Cook ran a workshop on how to write interesting articles so that they will be published and recommended building a good working relationship with the local media through regular contact.
Funding is always an important issue for local voluntary and community groups so tips on successful bid writing were offered by Katrina Copping, Culture and Community Development Manager of Suffolk County Council and the Forum's Claire Taylor-Crisp, Fairshare Trust Officer. The Big Lottery’s Ed Hickman gave valuable advice about Lottery and Awards for All funds.
Volunteering is at the heart of local community groups and Lowestoft Volunteer Centre’s Linda Mason advised on how to recruit volunteers and motivate them through rewarding roles and recognition of the work they do.
After a wonderful lunch provided by local community enterprise CIBO, the important business of Waveney Community Forum’s Annual General Meeting took place. Christine Pinsent, Chair of the Forum’s Trustees, and SAVO Training Officer, issued the Annual Report and accounts and thanked everyone for their continued support during the year.
The Forum will be having other events during the year so please check out our website for further information:

New Black and Minority Ethnic Community Development Role
Bernard joined Waveney Community Forum (cvs) on the 3rd of November 2008 in the new role of Mental Health Black and Minority Ethnic Community Development Officer, to reduce and eliminate ethnic inequalities in mental health service experience in Waveney.
Bernard will work with black and minority ethnic communities in order to better understand what help they want and need, and improve the primary care services they receive. In other words, he wants to support members of the BME communities to have a better quality of life.
He is still familiarising himself with the new post and new ideas and suggestions are welcomed. He looks forward to meeting people and working with you. Please do contact Bernard on 01502 582201 or email

Great Yarmouth and Waveney NHS launched a small grants programme on the 4th of August 2008 in partnership with Waveney Community Forum cvs and Voluntary Norfolk. 57 local groups have been supported since the scheme started! Unfortunately the scheme's success means there will only be one more funding round, towards the end of 2009. For more information click on NHS Small Grants in the menu bar to the left of this page.
The Waveney Community Forum works in partnership with a number of organisations in other districts in Suffolk who deliver local support services to the voluntary and community sector. Please click on the following links to find out more about these organisations.
In a nutshell, the Compact is a tool for improving relationships between public sector agencies and the voluntary and community sector in Suffolk for mutual advantage.
Its purpose is to provide a framework for good and productive relationships between the VCS and public sector agencies and promote a better understanding of how each sector works.
It is underpinned by five Codes of Good Practice that aid in the implementation of the Compact, giving guidelines for both sectors to work to. In essence, it is a common sense toolkit.
What relevance does it have to me?
If you are working in a multi-agency way, for either a public sector agency, or within the voluntary and community sector, then the Compact in Suffolk is very relevant. It sets out the framework for partnership working, giving guidelines around:
Consultation
Funding and Procurement
Volunteering
BME and Diversity
Community Groups
Even if you are part of a small voluntary organisation, the Volunteers Charter within the Volunteering Code is something that all organisations who work with volunteers should sign up to!
The new best practice guide - "The Bigger Orange Book on Involving Volunteers" is now available as a download on the VOICES page of the Suffolk Volunteering Federation (SVF) website:
A three-year initiative that aims to bring together communities in the East of England to cut their carbon emissions. Groups taking part will be able to measure their carbon footprint online, take action to become more energy efficient, seek up to £200,000 for carbon cutting projects in a £2.5 million funding competition.
